Pidgin Instant Messenger

Panickedthumb, over at the Ubuntu Forums, has written a quick How-To for installing the snapshot of Pidgin Instant Messenger.

I compiled it myself while he was still writing it, but here’s the sort of thing you have to look forward to.

The most exciting bit there is obviously how they saw my request over on the Ubuntu Forums and decided at the last minute to use Tango icons throughout… or at least that’s what I’ll tell myself. πŸ˜‰

Of course, you’ll notice that as far as the contact list goes the Pidgin crew seems to have shifted to one set of status icons rather than a bunch based on the protocol in question.

At the current time, Pidgin will use your data in ~/.gaim still. It autodetected my accounts and such, though it did not have them enabled.
